Down to the roots
Opened in 1992, Byron Surf Shop was originally located at the Corner of Lawson and Fetcher Street in the Old Cordial Factory building, in Byron Bay.
In the early 90's the surf market was dominated by mainstream surf labels, however, Byron Surf took a different approach and saw there should be room for alternative surf labels to grow. Byron Surf became one of first surf shops in Australia to stock labels such as Insight, Volcom, and Globe, which have now become well known surf/street/skate labels in Australia.
Started as a little surf ''shed'' with an unconventional product mix, Byron Surf Shop gradually gained local and tourist support. In the year 2000 the store temporarily moved to Byron Street while the site was being re-developed. In 2002, the store re-opened at its original location with a new fitout and bigger shop space.
